“What do I want to say?” his smile fades to a serious expression— “I was alone ... and now I'm not.” – Luke
Eight-year-old Luke’s days began before dawn and ended long after dark. Sold for $150 to a factory owner, his only education was in how to benefit his boss and be a hard worker. His days were spent sweeping floors, hauling products, and running errands. There were no other children with whom to play…if playing had been allowed. He was truly alone.
Concerned employees noticed the small boy working day after day. He never seemed to go to school, and had no parents to care for him. When they discovered that he was a slave there, they contacted Project 365. Luke was rescued from his grim, hopeless existence, and brought to a safe place where he could find healing and hope.
Now Luke knows the love of his heavenly Father, as well as the safety and support of people who care for him. Instead of drudgery, his days are filled with studying, playing, and laughing with friends. Finally safe, Luke has the freedom to be a child; the freedom to dream about a future now filled with hope.
